Reading to Write
This lecture aims to equip students with the critical, analytical, evaluative and creative skills and knowledge necessary to successfully understand a variety of texts, forms and genres and engage with the means in which composers communicate meaning and insight.
During the session we will develop students’ individual voice and response to texts through personal reflection, culminating in either a critical or imaginative response, utilising adequate grammar and syntax to communicate coherent and comprehensive ideas.
Ultimately, we are looking for students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to appreciate, understand, analyse and evaluate how and why texts convey ideas, relationships, endeavours and scenarios.
The greater the capacity to respond perceptively to texts through considered and thoughtful writing, the more students will have the skills necessary to successfully achieve high marks in the HSC.
